Abstract: Active Shooter Attack Prevention and Preparedness (ASAPP)
The ASAPP course provides techniques, tools, and tactics an individual may choose to use if they ever find themselves in an active shooter incident. This two-hour, hands-on, scenario-based training provides individuals tools to develop plans and responses to active shooter situations, including strategies for when to run, hide, or fight. Attendees will also learn life-saving skills, including how to apply a tourniquet. Each individual must assess their own ability and comfort level when determining whether or not to employ the techniques, tools, and tactics outlined and demonstrated in this course, realizing an active shooter incident is a dynamic and constantly-changing environment. This training is designed to discuss a variety of options available to someone who finds themselves involved in an active shooter incident and is modeled after: RUN/HIDE/FIGHT. The actions you take, if ever involved in an active shooter incident, are yours to decide and you accept all risk/responsibility associated with those actions. The techniques, tools, and tactics discussed in this course are options from which a more robust individual defense plan can be developed in advance of an active shooter incident.
CPE credits are available upon request. Please send a Meetup message to the Director of Membership (Erica Nantais) within 14 days after the meeting to receive proof of attendance, which will be emailed.
