Long before the first MMO-RPGs there were MUDs: Multi-User Dungeons, text-based games people can usually connect to via the simple telnet protocol. In this Workshop we will create a modern interpretation, completely from scratch. We will use the Dioxus framework to build a web-based, native and potentially mobile version completely in Rust and Web Assembly (=without any javascript except for invisible glue code). Due to the usage of the websockets protocol, the game will have practically no latency and will handle dozens of players simultaneously.
This is a very much compacted variant of a 5-hour workshop that will be held in Bologna next week. I compacted it to about 1 hour + "open end discussion". You can bring your Laptop and participate or just watch the show.
