Daimonji hike

This is a beginner hike of roughly 3 hours. The highest peak is 466 meters. We're taking a longer route up and down. Meeting point is in front of Ginkakuji (The Silver Temple). Meeting time is 09.45 and we start walking at 10. Please check the googlemaps link and photos for the exact location. Kyoto Hiking Group KHG started five years ago with the intention to bring people together and go on shared adventures. The goal is to socialize in nature and create some lasting memories. The Route From the meeting point we walk towards Honen-in temple and take a bit hidden path up to the steps leading to the big Dai character. After a break, we continue to the top for lunch. From there we follow a path on the back of the mountain to the starting point. Bicycle parking There is free bicycle parking near the meeting point. I park my bike there as well. We pass this at the end. 1.000 yen This event is 1.000 yen. Please pay in cash upon arrival. What to wear? Despite being a beginner hike, you do need to wear closed shoes and a back pack. A shoulder back is not recommended. It will probably get extra hot while hiking so wear light clothing. If you don't like mosquitos, please wear clothes that fully cover arms and legs. I usually wear shorts and a T-shirt. Pack a snack, lunch and plenty of water There are no convenience stores on the way. Even vending machines are scarce. Please make sure that you have everything with you before arriving at the meeting spot. No toilets There are no toilets on the trail. You are free to use the privacy of the forest. There is no toilet at the meeting point. The last opportunity is before going up to the silver temple. Safety first Please only join if you are in a general fit condition. It's still a hike.
