AI is moving faster than most people can keep up with. New models can reason through problems, write and run code, and act as agents that complete tasks on their own. Where is the frontier right now, and where is AI heading next?
Join The Auckland Society for AI for an evening at Little Creatures Hobsonville that starts with a short presentation on the current state of frontier AI and then opens up into small roundtable discussions. Each table will tackle a different question, such as:
What can today's most advanced AI systems actually do, and where do they still fall short?
How close are we to AI that matches or exceeds human ability across most tasks?
What does frontier AI mean for New Zealand businesses, jobs and policy?
Which risks deserve serious attention, and which are overhyped?
Run sheet:
6:00 PM Arrive, grab a drink and meet people
6:20 PM Presentation: What is the frontier of AI?
6:50 PM Roundtable discussions
7:40 PM Tables share their best insights, followed by open networking
8:00 PM Close
The evening suits founders, engineers, researchers, investors, business leaders and anyone who thinks seriously about where AI is going. You don't need a technical background, only curiosity and a willingness to share your view.
Food and drinks are available to buy at the bar. Spaces are limited to keep the conversations small, so please RSVP only if you plan to attend.
