Catskills - Lone & Rocky - Bushwhack - 15 yr hiking series

I am down to my final 5 Catskill peaks - the goal today is knock off two peaks on a difficult Bushwhack.

Since this is my first time here, John C will be officially leading and armed with technology - I will be studying the routes, photos and limited maps -and armed with a compass

I will update with more information as we approach the date

For now -I have 845 listed as the start time -we may move that up a little as the goal is to be off-trail before the sun goes

This is an all-day commitment - and anyone attending should be prepped with extra items - food -clothing -headlamp -

| Directions to Trail Head from New York State Thruway (Easist, not the shortest): |

Take New York State Thruway to Exit 19 (Kingston).

Take a right out of the NYS Thruway toll booths onto Rt 28.

Go approximately 30.4 miles west on Rt 28
|

Take a left onto Rt 47 at Big Indian
|

Go 20.3 miles South on Rt 47
|

Take LEFT through Claryville
|

Go 7.7 miles to the end of Denning Road (road splits a couple times, so make sure you stay on Denning Road. Denning road will turn to dirt road just before the end.

The DEC Parking lot is at the very end of Denning Road. The parking lot is 58.4 miles from Exit 19 on the NYS Thruway.

You can also access this parking lot from Peekamoose Road and Rt 209 from Ellenville.
