Walk and Talk 🥾 Practice languages with beautiful mountain views 😌

🌳 Make Friends, Practice Languages & Explore Nature!

Want to meet new people, get some fresh air, and enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon? Come join us! ☀️

Welcome to Walk & Talk, ALM Calgary's weekly outdoor social! It's a chance to practice the languages you're learning, meet people from different backgrounds, and build genuine friendships while enjoying one of Calgary's beautiful parks.
No matter what language you're learning, you'll have the opportunity to put your skills into practice through real conversations in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

💚 Why join us?

🤝 Make new friends. Meet like-minded people, expand your social circle, and get to know people you'll want to hang out with again.
🗣️ Practice languages naturally. Enjoy real conversations while walking together. No classroom, no formal lessons, and no pressure to speak perfectly!
🌳 Enjoy the outdoors. Get some fresh air, stretch your legs, and take a break from screens and the usual weekend routine.
🌏 Discover different languages and cultures. Meet people who share your interests and learn about the world through the people you meet.
😊 Coming alone? Perfect! Most of our members came to their first ALM event not knowing anybody. When you arrive, introduce yourself to Cody and he'll help get you connected.

🚶 How does it work?

When you RSVP, please indicate which language or languages you'd like to practise.
I'll organize language-specific walking groups based on everyone's preferences, making it easier to find people to talk with in your target language.
Our one main rule: speak the language of your walking group! This helps everyone get the most out of the experience and gives everyone a chance to practice.
Want to practise more than one language? Feel free to move between groups!
For the best experience, you should be able to hold at least a simple conversation in your target language. You don't need to be fluent, and making mistakes is completely fine!

💛 Help us keep ALM welcoming

We want everyone to feel comfortable, respected, and included.

Please honour your RSVP. If your plans change, update your RSVP and let me know beforehand so I can organize the walking groups accordingly.
Respect everyone's boundaries. We're here to practice languages and make friends, not to pressure anyone for unwanted contact.
Be kind and considerate. Harassment, aggressive behaviour, intimidation, and conduct that makes others feel unsafe or uncomfortable will not be tolerated.

Repeated no-shows without notice may result in removal from the group.

☀️ Come walk with us!

Whether you're new to Calgary, hoping to expand your social circle, learning a new language, or simply looking for something enjoyable to do on a Sunday, you are welcome to join us.

Come for the walk, stay for the friendships. Let's make Sundays a little more interesting! 🌳🤝
