Wednesday Night Dharma Talk and Meditation
Wednesday November 11, 6:30pm - 8pm
at Chua Quang Minh temple, Grant Park Atlanta
Don't miss our special guests! This session is led by two charismatic American nuns (one a former Atlanta resident) coming to us from Sravasti Abbey, a Buddhist monastery in the Tibetan tradition in the Pacific Northwest. Venerables Thubten Chonyi and Thubten Dekyi will lead guided meditation and Dharma talk on cultivating love and compassion in our busy lives.
Everyone is welcome to practice mindfulness and feel the joy in our hearts.
Compassion in Action: An evening with the nuns from Sravasti Abbey Monastery
We all want to live in a kinder, more compassionate world. But how do we actually cultivate
compassion—and put it into action in the midst of everyday life?
Join Venerable Thubten Chonyi and Venerable Thubten Dekyi, Buddhist nuns from Sravasti
Abbey, for an evening exploring practical ways to strengthen compassion within ourselves and
bring it into our relationships, our communities, and the challenges we encounter every day.
Compassion is not simply something we either have or don’t have. It is a capacity we can
cultivate. Through Buddhist teachings, reflection, and conversation, Ven. Chonyi and Ven. Dekyi
will share ways to develop the qualities that help us meet difficult times with greater kindness,
joy, resilience, and an open heart.

Maintaining Hope Without Denying Reality
In a world marked by uncertainty, loss, and constant change, it can be difficult to remain hopeful
without overlooking life's challenges. Where do we find hope?
Tibetan Buddhist nuns Venerable Thubten Chonyi and Venerable Thubten Dekyi, visiting from
Sravasti Abbey, will explore how hope arises not from wishful thinking or avoiding difficulties,
but from transforming the way we relate to them. Drawing on the Buddha's teachings and their
own years of monastic training and contemplative practice, they will discuss how understanding
impermanence, cultivating compassion, and training the mind can help us face adversity with
resilience and an open heart.
Open to people of all backgrounds and levels of experience, this talk offers practical wisdom for
navigating an ever-changing world with confidence, clarity, and compassion.

Venerable Thubten Chonyi has studied Buddhism under the guidance of Venerable Thubten
Chodron for 30 years, eventually ordaining at her teacher’s monastery, Sravasti Abbey, in 2008
and receiving full ordination in Taiwan in 2011. With a background in theatre and publicity, Ven.
Chonyi is primarily involved in Sravasti Abbey’s communications and regularly gives Dharma

continues to guide her path as a dedicated monastic.
