Founded in British Columbia in 2005 by conservationist Mark Angelo—building on the success of BC Rivers Day—it engages millions of people across more than 100 countries to increase public awareness and encourage river stewardship This is a 78.7 km ride with approximately 450 meters of accumulated elevation gain. The ride is primarily on paved surfaces (56.6 km), and the balance on hard-packed gravel. We will cross over or visit the following waterways. In order, Hoy Creek, Noons Creek, Scott Creek, Coquitlam River, Pitt River, Alouette River, Fraser River and the Serpentine River. From the Serpentine River, we will head back across the Fraser River via the Port Mann Bridge, then work our way back to the starting point. We will have a coffee stop at Waves Coffee in Port Coquitlam, and lunch will be at The Patch Brewing in Pitt Meadows. Difficulty: Moderate / Hard if you have been biking regularly. The biggest climb is in Surrey after we leave the Tynehead Park area, with a 7- 9% grade. Distance: 78.7 km. Expected Duration: 6 Hrs (approx.) Bring: snacks/water and pack a Lunch or buy something at The Patch. Once you sign up, we are not liable for any mishaps, and we do not have any medical training. Please be responsible for yourself and follow all cycling rules and the leader’s agenda. Please be sure: your bike is in good condition, tires are inflated, and brakes are in good working order before arriving at the starting point. Carrying a Repair Kit and an extra inner tube is recommended. To help you be seen and heard on the road, the following equipment is also recommended: a bell, flashing front and back lights or reflectors and a mirror. Our goal: is for you to enjoy your ride and arrive at the end safe, happy and satisfied with your leaders and your outing.
