Our Christmas Lights Canal Cruise has become one of those beautiful shared traditions that members often ask about all year. In 2024, there were 24 of us, and last year 30 members joined the fun. So many past cruisers have already said they would love to do it again. This year, I've booked the whole boat exclusively for our group - and made it much easier for more of our Northside members to join us. Great news - two return Hiaces! For the first time, we have two Hiaces vehicles travelling to and from Runaway Bay. This means our Northside members can park nearby or arrange a drop-off at Nudgee Station, enjoy the evening with us, and be returned there at approx 9.55 pm. Return-Hiace seats are limited, so please be quick if you would like one. Lizzie Your Hiace hosts I'll be driving the Hiace with Nudgee Station, and Beenleigh Station Station, if required, and Helensvale Station included on my route. Meet Adam - our Eagleby/Beenleigh Hiace driver Many of you will already know Adam from previous Meetup adventures. For those who have not yet met him, he is a warm, easy-going and very friendly member, with a cheeky sense of humour that always brings a few laughs along the way. Adam will be behind the wheel of the Hiace collecting from Eagleby and Beenleigh, and from Helensvale if that pickup is allocated to his route. We are very grateful to have him helping us make this Christmas adventure work so smoothly. Before we cruise We'll gather at the Runaway Bay Tavern from 4.00 pm for a relaxed pre-cruise meet, greet and mingle in the covered Garden area. The Tavern have kindly arranged for us to place our meal orders by 4.30 pm - this way the chef can start on our orders as soon as the kitchen opens. Tavern meals and drinks are at your own cost. We'll leave the Tavern together just before 6.00 pm, for the short walk to the dock ready to be there by 6.15 pm The Christmas Lights Cruise Our private Christmas Lights Cruise departs at 6.30 pm and returns at approx 8.00 pm. For 1.5 magical hours, we'll cruise through the Gold Coast canals as homes, gardens and waterfronts light up for Christmas. There will be Christmas music, plenty of laughs, a friendly crew and those delightfully quirky displays that make this cruise so memorable. Keep an eye out for the three giant baubles, the rhinoceros and the dog stealing Santa's mail - the quirky favourites that make this cruise such fun.
