"Little Sit" at the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove

What is a “Little Sit”?

It’s a miniature version of a birding Big Sit, where observers remain within a designated circle while counting every bird that comes along. This will not be a bird walk – it truly is a bird sit where we let the birds come to us!

Please join us for this relaxing, beginner-friendly and family-friendly event as we remain in one location to see which birds come our way. (Last year 331 birds of 41 different species dropped by, along with a young white-tailed deer buck and a white squirrel! You can see that bird list here: Little Sit - 26 Oct 2025.) We will be stationed near the front door of the museum under the covered portico, just yards from the parking lot, from 8 - 11 AM. Volunteers from the Valley Forge Audubon Society will be present to lend their expertise. Come for the entire program, for an hour, or just drop in to say hello.

We encourage you to bring binoculars if you have them, but some will be available to borrow and we will help you get them adjusted. The leaders will have a spotting scope to share.

Please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on if desired as well as water and snacks - and don't forget to bring the kids, too.
Admission to the museum will be free all day.
