A walk led on one previous occasion back in 2022.

A fairly challenging walk with a more or less steady climb from Settle to our lunch spot which includes a small number of short, steep climbs and one gate to clamber over. After lunch, the walking is pretty much plain sailing as we traipse through the Dales landscape back to Settle.

From the market square, you can view the limestone crag that dominates the Settle skyline before we wind our way through the back streets and up out of town. The climb involves grassy tracks, limestone paths and walking on surfaced roads.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.

Start/Meeting point: Whitefrairs car park, the one next to the Asda Express garage. Car park fee is £5.80. Toilets available. Postcode is BD24 9JD.

After-walk refreshment: there are a myriad of pubs and tearooms to choose from. The closest pub & tearoom to the car park are next door to each other: The Royal Oak and Ye Old Naked Man café!!

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
