We Continue Our Exploration of Duns Scotus!
“We hope to understand why Scotus is considered one of the great medieval philosophers, and to become familiar with some of his main ideas.”
Scotus is also an important philosophical influence and background for understanding thinkers such as Heidegger, Deleuze, and much of modern philosophy.
The text - John Duns Scotus Philosophical - Philosophical Writings
This week we examine: Section III (pp. 40–47): "Relative Properties of God," "Primacy of Efficient Causality"
"Scotus argues that reality points toward a first source: uncaused, ultimate in purpose, and unsurpassed in excellence, inviting believers and sceptics alike to explore how explanation, meaning, and goodness relate."
Our meetups are completely free. If you enjoy relaxed, thoughtful discussion, you’ll fit right in. Come join the conversation!
Each week, we have a lots of short presentations by different participants on the reading, followed by discussion.
Location: Café in Newcastle West, Fenham – contact David ([email protected]) for more details.
