Joe Hummel Memorial Philly Hike 10.5 3mph with early outs totaling 5 or 9.5 mile

Joe Hummel led this hike for many years.

I have been leading it for the past 4 years. Joe and his son came on my hike years ago snd walked over the Ben franklin as well.

We will pass along some historic sites, interesting views along the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers ,Tension Bridge and interesting neighborhoods between

10.5 mile version goes SE on SRT after lunch , goes over new tension bridge crosses river, heads NW thru Penn Medical , Penn University campuses, Cica Green roof top garden onto 30th street station. then goes down Market st to
Reading Terminal Market China town and Franklin Sq Patco

9.5 mile route exit is on your own, turns off market st at
19th rt to Rittenhouse sq and onto 16th and locust and Patco

5 mi route exit is own your own and turns rt on 19 th street early in the hike to Rittenhouse sq and onto 16th St and Locust st

Take train back to your NJ start location.

Patco's hi-speed line last stop in Phila (16th and Locust.)

SUGGEST using the PATCO train and meet at the WOODCREST station at 9:00am TO GET TO START LOC.

Purchasing a round trip ticket makes sense. Parking is no problem.

WALKING OVER BRIDGE OPTION 1.9 miles. Meet at Westmont Station at 8:15 AM. I ,Wendell Gulick , will be there.
Should be plenty of PARKING ACROSS street , Crystal Lake Ave, FROM STATION under tracks.

If you use other methods to 6th and Mkt. good luck!

Bring supply of water and lunch. Realize hike can can be a bit tricky.
