How does technology interact with contemporary artistic creation? What can we expect from this relationship in the near future? How do artists include different technologies in their practices and through their work makes us reflect on their impact on society and world?
These are some of the questions we will attempt to tackle in this session. In partnership with PTW, BoCA - Biennial of Contemporary Arts proposes a reflection on Art & Technology, hosted by BoCA Biennial 2027 curator Claudia Galhós in dialogue with AURA, a Portuguese transdisciplinary artist.
BoCA - Biennial of Contemporary Arts (www.bocabienal.org) is a non-profit cultural association founded in 2015 in Lisbon. It draws from a multi- and transdisciplinary programme with a clear commitment to the present and future of artistic creation. BoCA encourages critical reflection on the contemporary socio-cultural context, supporting innovative creative processes.
AURA (b. 1997, Porto–London–Zurich) is a transdisciplinary artist working with identity, futurity and sustainability, and co-founder of Asterisco, a space and festival for dissident artists. She creates ethereal performances and immersive installations that foster safe and aesthetic ecosystems. Her work has been presented internationally, including Sex and Death (2025–), TransPerformativity (2023–25), The Transformation of the World (2022–23) and 7 ≈ 8 (2021–23). She holds an MA in Performance Making from Goldsmiths, University of London, and studied at the University of Coimbra, ESAP and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She is an associate artist at Chisenhale Dance Space and a member of the Loom Collective, and has collaborated with Raimund Hoghe, Alessandro Bosetti and Aki Nagasaka, among others. Her work has been supported by Arts Council England, DGArtes and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
