West Lake Skenonto Harriman Overnighter Camping

Blaze Nature Lovers. I'm looking to 1st time host an event here with Blaze! The recent weather cool down definitely sparks the vibes of some early fall camping. I'm looking to throw together a simple non-beginner overnighter camping trip. This upcoming weekend looks overall dry and mild days with chilly nights.

Last September our brother Dan O'Reilly hosted an overnighter to the west side of Lake Skenonto which I am hoping to camp at again. Also considering a camping site on the east shore. This will be a backcountry camping trip while overall easy not fully a beginner trip. I am planning to head up early afternoon with plenty of time before sunset. I'm likely leaving West Harlem driving at 1pm. Open to Google Doc exploring drivers from the area too. Happy to discuss potential carpooling. With fall hiking parking may be a bit tricky. The other option is taking NJ TRANSIT to Tuxedo Park. I will send out a transportation Doc to interested attendees Wednesday.

NOTE: Hike with all your gear will range from 1.5+ to 3+ miles mixed terrain depending on what parking is available at the three trailheads. From the train station, the hike is roughly 3+ miles.

Recommended Minimum Supplies:

- ample warm layers for night
- freeze dried food / snacks
- quick jet boil stove
- indiviual cookware + multitool
-bear bag / bear canister

- toilet paper/hand sani
- bug spray / SPF
- camelback/bottle + quality water filter
- other camping/creature comforts
- cash venmo etc for carpoolers
