H is for The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple (Open House Weekend)

Join us at the opening of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple as part of the Open House Festival. Steeped in over four centuries of legal tradition, the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple is one of London's four prestigious Inns of Court. Holding the exclusive right to Call its members to the Bar, the Society supports, educates, and houses barristers throughout their legal careers. The Middle Temple buildings we will be visiting are: Middle Temple Hall and Bench Apartments, and Middle Temple Library. Read more here: https://programme.openhouse.org.uk/listings/12013 NB. This is a very popular event with visitors every year, and at times the rooms will be very crowded. There will be approximately a 15 minute queue for the Hall and Bench Apartments, and then another queue for the Library. IF TIME ALLOWS (i.e. depending on queues), we will also visit: Inner Temple Gardens: https://programme.openhouse.org.uk/listings/9601 Temple Church: https://programme.openhouse.org.uk/listings/1984 THE PLAN FOR THE DAY: FROM 11.00 AM: MEET AT THE MIDDLE TEMPLE GARDEN ROOM (CAFE) Address: Middle Temple, Middle Temple Lane, Temple, London EC4Y 9BT Please meet us at the cafe so we can all join the queue together. Look out for the LoMAZ sign on the cafe table and host/s who will be wearing LoMAZ badges. 11.40 AM: JOIN QUEUE FOR MIDDLE TEMPLE HALL AND BENCH APARTMENTS If you're running late, look out for us in the queue or inside the building itself, but please join the event WhatsApp group to help you find us. AFTER THIS: JOIN QUEUE FOR MIDDLE TEMPLE LIBRARY AFTER THIS IF TIME ALLOWS: EXPLORE INNER TEMPLE GARDENS AND TEMPLE CHURCH LATER: PUB SOCIAL AT YE OLDE COCK TAVERN (optional) Address: 22 Fleet St, Temple, London EC4Y 1AA We'll head to a nearby pub afterwards to catch up over a drink. As our finish time will be a bit unpredictable, we won't have a table booked. Please keep an eye on the event WhatsApp event group, and we'll coordinate where and when to meet when we're ready to head off. TICKETS: This event is free and you will not need tickets. GETTING THERE: Address: The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, Middle Temple Lane, Temple, London EC4Y 9BT Tube: Temple Train: Charing Cross, Blackfriars Bus: 15, 26, 341, 76 Entrances: Tudor Street, Embankment, or Fleet Street EVENT WHATSAPP GROUP: Please join the event WhatsApp group to help you find the group on the day. The link will be posted in the Event Comments latest, 48 hours before the event, for those on the confirmed going list. It will be really important for you to join for this event so the hosts can ideally just use one form of communication on the day to help manage your ‘Where are you in the queue?’ questions! NB Joining this WhatsApp group will make your phone number visible to other members in the group. PLEASE NOTE: LoMAZ events are run by volunteers. This event has an attendee limit as we prefer a smaller, friendlier group. If you RSVP but can no longer attend, please change your RSVP as soon as possible, otherwise you will be marked as a 'no show'. Please see the About Us section for more information about the group and how it works. Thank you for your interest in the group & being part of LoMAZ. 📸 Follow LoMAZ on Instagram.
