Only the couragous should sign up for this one. On Halloween afternoon, we’re going ghost hunting through Oregon City. We’ll hike from one historic haunt to another, then end at the McLoughlin House for an in-character performance by Dr. John McLoughlin himself.

We’ll be hiking through some of the city’s most fascinating historic spots, meeting the ghosts of pioneers who looked at a giant waterfall, endless wilderness, no plumbing, and several thousand miles of very bad transportation and said, “Yup. Let’s build Oregon here.”

There will be history.
There will be ghosts.
There will almost certainly be questionable facial hair.
And then, at the end of the hike, things get weird.

We’ll arrive at the historic McLoughlin House, where Dr. John McLoughlin himself will be waiting for us. Technically, he died in 1857. We have chosen not to let this interfere with the programming.

An actor portraying McLoughlin will spend an hour completely in character telling the story of Fort Vancouver, Oregon City, the Oregon Trail, and the improbable chain of events that helped create the Pacific Northwest.

So join us for this 3-mile hike & performance. It’s got exercise, history, ghosts, bad decisions, dead people, and one extremely talkative corpse.

Courage will be required, along with sensible shoes.
Séances will be conducted only if time permits.
