Book Club: The Epic of Gilgamesh

On Saturday, 3rd of October, we’ll meet to discuss The Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the oldest surviving works of literature, originating in ancient Mesopotamia more than 4,000 years ago. At the center of the story is Gilgamesh, the powerful king of Uruk, and his friendship with Enkidu, a wild man created by the gods. Their adventures lead Gilgamesh to confront some of the oldest human questions: What makes a good life? What does friendship mean? Why must we die? And how should we live knowing that our lives are finite? Although incredibly ancient, Gilgamesh deals with themes that remain surprisingly familiar: love, friendship, power, grief, fear of death, and the search for meaning. ⸻ Anyone is welcome!
