Meet hikers, without the hike.
Want to meet more hikers without having to sign up for a hike first?
It can be hard to meet people who share your interest in hiking. We wanted to create a place where hikers can come together, get to know one another, and socialize without having to go on a hike.
Come to a free, one-hour Hiker Social at Morris County Library in Whippany, near Morristown. Meet people from Morristown and across Morris County, make new friends, and get to know people you may eventually want to hike with.
Come by yourself. You do not need to know anyone to join us. All experience levels are welcome, including beginners and people getting back into hiking.
Tuesday, November 10 • 7:00–8:00 PM
Morris County Library — Conference Room
30 East Hanover Avenue, Whippany, NJ 07981
What happens?
7:00–7:15: A 15-minute educational segment on a hiking-related topic.
7:15–8:00: Introductions and social time. Talk, get to know other hikers, and exchange contact details if you want to stay in touch.
This is our first Hiker Social: a new way to meet local hikers in person. You do not need to know anyone or bring hiking gear.
RSVP to save your place. If your plans change, please update your RSVP so someone else can come.
Organized by Preventive Search and Rescue Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on eliminating preventable outdoor trauma, injuries, rescues, and deaths in the backcountry and mountains. Our mission also includes keeping public spaces open and accessible.
Come meet some hikers. No hike required.
