This will be an approximately 9-mile hike on the Florida National Scenic Trail from the Porter Lake Camp to County Road 67 and return. This will be through predominately planted pine with some hardwood forests. Not much elevation change. Expect areas with knee high groundcover and vines. Depending on antecedent weather conditions some low areas may be wet and/or muddy. Use of hiking pole(s) suggested. There will be two narrow bridges (photos below) that will be crossed twice. This hike can be moderate to strenuous.

Bring: lunch, snacks, plenty of water, personal first aid kit, insect repellent, hiking poles, etc. You may want to wear bright colors. There is no potable water along the trail. There is a pit toilet at Porter Lake Camp. Well behaved dogs on a leash welcome. Not suitable for young children. Older children with a parent or adult guardian welcome.

For carpooling meet at 8:00am in front of the Ft. Braden Community Center, 16387 Blountstown Hwy, (30.426408, -84.535022). (There is a port-o-let behind the center.) We will leave this location by 8:30am. Alternate meeting location at 9:00am at Porter Lake Camp (30.177060, -84.676842) located on the southside of Forest Road 13 near the west end of the Ochlockonee River bridges. We will start the hike no later than 9:30am. Rough estimate of return by mid-afternoon.
