This will be our 73rd time cleaning gravestones.

This YouTube video describes the process we follow.

All supplies and equipment will be provided.

We will provide a cleaning product called Gravestone Monument Cleaner, a non-toxic fungicide that is pH neutral and does not harm stones.

James River Hikers created, funded and installed a history sign at the grist mill Dr. Foushee built in 1819 and is now located on the Texas Beach Trail. Here's a related article.

Dr. Foushee's monument was the first we cleaned July 18, 2020. Here is the meetup of our first cleaning.

The link below provides more information about the cemetery and includes this statement:

"Shockoe Hill Cemetery is the final resting place of many famous people. These include Revolutionary War hero Peter Francisco, Chief Justice John Marshall, and Union Spy Elizabeth Van Lew to name a few. Intermingled with them are the elite, the working class, and the poor."
