Detroit Mirror Grinding and Stargazing Social

We are hosting an evening at the workshop for anyone interested in the craft of telescope making. Whether you are currently grinding a mirror for a project or have just been curious about how these instruments come together, this is a chance to gather, share progress, and troubleshoot any issues you might be running into with your curve. We will have the workstations set up and ready for work, and there is always plenty of collective knowledge in the room if you are stuck on a specific stage of the process.

If the skies stay clear, we will move outside later in the evening to set up a few finished scopes and do some observing. It is a casual, low-pressure environment, so please feel free to bring along whatever you are working on or just drop by to talk shop with other local makers. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting anyone new to the hobby. If you think you can make it, please let us know by clicking the RSVP button so we can get an idea of how many people to expect.
