🌲 Sunday Escape: Mountains, New Faces & a Picnic

A little less city. A little more nature. A few new people to call friends.

This Sunday, we're swapping Madrid's busy streets for pine forests, fresh mountain air, and a picnic by the water!
We're heading to Cercedilla for a day of exploring, sharing food, having good conversations, and meeting people we probably wouldn't have crossed paths with otherwise. 🌿
Coming alone? Perfect! That's exactly what this little club is about.
No awkward networking. No pressure to be the most outgoing person in the group. Just a Sunday outside with good company. 🧚

🌿 The Plan

10:30 — Meet at Recoletos 🚉
Say hi, meet your fellow adventurers, grab your train ticket, and start getting to know each other.
Around 11:00 — Off to Cercedilla!
We'll take the Cercanías train into the mountains. Exact departure time will be confirmed in the event chat.
Around 12:30 — Into the forest 🌲
A relaxed group walk through the pine forest towards Embalse de Navalmedio.
We'll take our time, enjoy the scenery, stop for photos, and get to know each other along the way.
Around 14:00 — The Friends' Picnic 🥪
We'll find a nice spot by the water, unpack our snacks, share stories, and enjoy a little escape from city life.
Bring your own food and drinks. Sharing is welcome, never expected!
By 16:30 — Back from the forest
We'll finish the forest part of our walk before it gets dark and head towards the village.
16:30–17:30 — Cercedilla & Coffee ☕
Time to explore the village, grab a coffee or something sweet, and enjoy a few more conversations before heading home, depending on our train departure.
Late afternoon — Back to Madrid 🚆
We'll catch the train together, aiming to arrive in Madrid around 19:00.
Times are approximate and may change depending on the route, group pace, and train schedule.

💸 How Much?

The meetup is completely free! No organizer fees, no hidden costs.

🚆 Train: Budget approximately €8–11 return (depending on your ticket or travel pass).
🥪 Picnic: Bring your own food and drinks.
☕ Coffee & pastries: Optional, at your own expense.

🎒 What to Bring

Comfortable walking shoes with good grip
Warm layers and a jacket (mountain weather can be chilly!)
Enough water for the walk
Lunch, snacks, and drinks for the picnic
A small blanket or sitting pad, if you like
A bag for your rubbish — let's leave nature as we found it
A charged phone, cash or card

Walking level: Relaxed pace, no technical hiking skills needed. However, expect several kilometres of walking, some uphill sections, and uneven paths. Please make sure you're comfortable walking for a few hours.

🌦️ Good to Know

⏰ Clocks go back one hour on Sunday, 25 October! Make sure your phone shows the correct time.
🌅 Daylight matters! Sunset in Madrid is around 18:20, and it can get dark earlier in the mountains. That's why we'll finish our forest walk by 16:30.
🚆 Train schedules may change, so we'll confirm the exact departure and meeting details in the event chat the day before.
🌧️ If the weather isn't suitable, we'll decide whether to adjust the plan or reschedule.
📸 Photos are welcome, but please ask before photographing or posting someone.
