Why Deskmates?
Working from home is a good deal in most ways.

But five days a week in the same room can get a little lonely. By Friday, you may not miss having a boss, meetings or an office.
You just miss having someone at the next desk.

The quiet sound of someone else working.
A little energy in the room.
A reason to leave the house that isn't an errand.

Deskmates is a relaxed Friday afternoon work social for people who want to get things done while being around other humans.

No networking games.
No workshops.
No presentations.

Just good company, focused work and a change of scene.

The idea

Get some work done
Get out of the house
Have people around without having to socialise
Meet someone naturally
End the week feeling a little more alive

What to Expect
3:00 PM Casual arrival and a short intro
3:15 PM Heads down. Work begins.
4:30 PM Short break. Stretch, refill your drink and chat.
4:45 PM Second work block.
7:00 PM Event ends.

How It Works
You are completely free to make the afternoon your own.

Work quietly with headphones on
Chat during the break
Arrive late or leave early
Bring any kind of work
Meet people naturally, without having to network

There is zero pressure to socialise.

The goal is simple:

Sit down. Focus. Finish something. Meet someone.

Why Work Together?
Sometimes you simply work better when someone else is working beside you.

Nobody checks your screen. Nobody asks what you’ve finished.

The presence of other people quietly creates a little momentum.

You sit down. You start. And somehow, you get more done.

Who Should Join?

Everyone.

Working remotely. Freelancing. Building something. Studying. Writing. Running a business. Between jobs. Or simply tired of working alone.

This is not tech only.

What to Bring

Laptop and charger
Headphones
Something you actually want to finish
An open mind and good energy

Come with a charged battery just in case. Wifi and power depend on what the cafe has available.

What If I Need to Take a Call?
Step outside or into the lobby.
The room stays quiet by default so everyone can actually focus.

What If I'm Late?
Just come.
There is no big introduction you need to catch. Everyone will already be working.
Message the host and we'll let you know where we're sitting.

Is This a Networking Event?
No.
No pitching.
No selling.
No recruiting.
No presentations.

If an interesting conversation turns into a collaboration, great.

But nobody is here to be sold to.

Come to work. Stay for the company.

See you at the desk.
