Esoteric Mythology -Ike Baker

Ike Baker reveals how myths connect us to the imaginal realm and explains how certain mythic structures and esoteric teachings appear across traditions, reflecting humanity's shared imaginal perception of spiritual reality.⁣

Distilling two decades of research in comparative mythology, linguistics, and the esoteric philosophies of Taoism, Platonism, and Hermeticism, the author shows how myths provide a living map to the imaginal realm—a spiritual cartography that resonates across time and culture. He discusses mythopoesis, the magic of myth-making, and the importance of dreams in connecting us to the imaginal realm and the perennial wisdom it contains. Drawing on Babylonian, Norse, Egyptian, Biblical, Indian, and Chinese myths as well as the works of Plato and Neoplatonists, Baker explores how certain mythic structures and esoteric teachings appear across traditions, reflecting a timeless worldview and humanity’s shared imaginal perception of spiritual reality. He also looks at core concepts expressed through myth—the idea of an Adversary, the fall and exile, trials and quests, saviors and redeemers, and the triumph of the light. Revealing the enduring relevance of myths, Baker demonstrates how these archetypal stories bridge the subconscious and conscious, and can serve as initiatory tools for interfacing with your imagination.
