The Ideas Open Mic: Odyssey, Art History & The Connection Recession

Hi everyone! I spoke to a few of you at the weekend about our upcoming 'Ideas Open Mic'. The first event is on Saturday 19 September in case you're interested. The idea is that it's a series of 'bar talks' with expert speakers, and then lots of time to meet new people. The first one even has Julia - who lots of you will know from this group - on the lineup. Topics across the events will range from art history to The Odyssey, to contemporary culture and science. This event is a pilot so would be very keen for feedback afterwards. A journey to Rome to look closely at ancient sculptures reworked by Renaissance and Baroque masters, and why what archaeologists call destruction might actually be a 2,000-year collaboration between sculptors. Gareth Lewis - The Connection Recession. Where the idea that we're all lonelier than ever came from, whether it holds up, and what we can do about it.
