While we have read a lot of genres and themes of books, I am not sure we have ever read an epistolatory novel. This one comes highly rated and, as should be expected with our books, the world has ended (nearly) – AGAIN. I’ve heard great things about this one and it has been on the list forever.
\\Book summary from Goodreads\
Among the ashes of a dying world, an agent of the Commandant finds a letter. It reads: Burn before reading.
Thus begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents hellbent on securing the best possible future for their warring factions. Now, what began as a taunt, a battlefield boast, grows into something more. Something epic. Something romantic. Something that could change the past and the future.
Except the discovery of their bond would mean death for each of them. There's still a war going on, after all. And someone has to win that war.
\\This month's restaurant selection\\
I had to check my Master Excel File of Doom twice because I cannot believe the last time we were here was August 2024. That was forever ago!! Everyone throw out the diets because it is time for hot beignets. We are headed to Tibbys New Orleans Kitchen in Brandon. You can preplan your feast with their menu here: https://tibbys.com/.
\\Not sure about book club or never been to one before? \\
Read the book (or some of the book). Come to the Meetup. Eat yummy food and chat with folks about what you thought about the book. REPEAT!
\\Not sure where to get the book? \\
All books we select have a decent number of copies (at least 3-4 across all formats) at both the Hillsborough and Pinellas County Library. And, of course, you can always buy a copy.
\\Didn’t finish/hated this book?\
Come to the Meetup anyway! If you didn't finish - just be aware, there will be spoilers. If you hated it, come and rant! In my experience, the books that generate the best conversations and the books we really love are rarely the same books.
