Hello Spiritual Explorers,
In this Meetup group we will explore the teachings of various mystics in the Medieval Era.
This first Meetup on mystics focused on mystics in the Ancient Era (Before 500 CE). This Meetup will cover mystics of the Medieval Era (500-1500 CE) on 10/17, followed by the Early Modern Era (1500-1800 CE) on 11/7, and followed by mystics of the Modern Era (1800- 2026 CE) on 11/21.
For each Meetup, please consider researching one or two mystics of your choosing from that era to share what you learned with the group. What can we learn from their teachings? Who you pick to learn about is completely up to you. It is fine if more than one person researches the same mystic.

For our 10/17 Meetup here are some mystics to consider:
Medieval Era (500–1500 CE)

Adi Shankara (c. 788–820 CE) – India. The premier philosopher of Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism), who taught that the individual soul (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman) are one.
Ibn Arabi (1165–1240 CE) – Spain/Syria. One of Islam's greatest Sufi masters, known for his doctrine of the "Unity of Being" (Wahdat al-Wujud).
Rumi (1207–1273 CE) – Persia/Turkey. The world-renowned Sufi poet whose ecstatic verses celebrated the divine union between the lover and God.
Hildegard of Bingen (1098–1179 CE) – Germany. A Christian Benedictine abbess, polymath, and mystic who recorded vivid, cosmic visions of the divine light.
Meister Eckhart (c. 1260–1328 CE) – Germany. A Dominican friar whose radical Christian sermons focused on the "birth of the Word" within the human soul.
Mirabai (c. 1498–1546 CE) – India. A Hindu poet-saint of the Bhakti movement, famous for her intensely personal, devotional songs to Krishna.

Looking forward to a wide ranging, fascinating and educational conversation!
Metta,
Mike
