Every year Death Valley National Park hosts the Dark Skies Festival. They have field lectures, seminars at the visitor center, a science fair at the visitor center and at night they set up telescopes at the airport. It's official, the
Furnace Creek is completely full however, across the street, the overflow for Texas Springs is a great alternative.
What to bring for the festival: Your curiosity, a telescope if you want, and if you are doing any of the field seminars then bring your typical day pack setup. Although you probably only really need a water bottle.
Keep an eye out for more information and schedules as they are released.
