Tax Return 101: File Your German Taxes with ELSTER 💰

The long-awaited tax tutorial is almost here! 🎉 Our very own Yasemin will walk us through filing a tax return on ELSTER step by step, and share what she's learned from doing it herself.
A lot of us put off the Steuererklärung because the forms look intimidating and everything is in German. Let's sit down together with our laptops open and work through it as a group. 😊

👥 Who is this for?
The session is mainly for employees: students with part-time jobs and full-time professionals. Freelancers, your tax rules are a bit different, but you're very welcome to join! If we don't know the answer, we'll look it up together.
💻 What to bring

Your laptop + charger
Working access to ELSTER on your laptop (see tip below)
Your Lohnsteuerbescheinigung (annual salary statement from your employer)
Education/training receipts (if applicable)
Nebenkosten / utility statements (if applicable)
Receipts for work expenses: commuting, home office, equipment, etc.
Receipts for insurance, donations, childcare or other deductible expenses (if applicable)

💡 Tip: No ELSTER account yet? Register this week! The activation code is sent by post and can take up to two weeks to arrive, so it may not reach you in time otherwise.
