September Bookbinding Club - closures + pencil loops

Throughout 2026, Bookbinding Club will continue to be on the 2nd Friday of the month, from 10am until 12noon, casual drop-in. All are welcome! September's Bookbinding Club will be held on Friday 18 September 2026. TOPIC: closures/clasps/straps and other fancy ways to embellish handmade leatherbound books! We’ll look at a variety of interesting closures, and then try our hands at creating + stitching a PENCIL LOOP useful for the fore-edge of handmade books. Cost $30 All materials provided, including leather, lasercut pencil loops, thread, needles, custom made tools + templates. BYO your handmade book, or alternatively use some scrap leather (provided) to work/practice on. Each participant will receive 3 different lasercut leather pieces to try out and keep. Please bring your usual papercrafting tool kit. For regular Bookbinding Club participants: If you could all please bring along a Show & Tell item (or several!) of something you've been working on, or something of interest to share with the group, that'd be swell :) One final note: These meetups are a nice opportunity to BYO a bookbinding project to work on (or ask questions about), and maybe even share some of your ideas and plans for projects you'd like to work on this year.
