Join us for a walk in Pelham Bay Park where we’ll explore some of its trails, walk the boardwalk at Orchard Beach and view historic homes on City Island. This walk will be approximately 9 miles. We will also discuss the history of the area on our walk. For anyone interested, we will stop for a late lunch on City Island at the end.
To meet the group, take the 6 train to the Pelham Bay Park station. Exit the station via the pedestrian bridge into the park where we will meet by the restrooms. The walk will begin at 11:00. We end on City Island where you can take the Bx29 bus back to the 6 train. Early dropouts via the Bx29 are also available.
Expect trails that are mostly flat but rocky and covered with leaves. There are ticks in the area and bug spray is recommended.
Bring water and lunch/snacks. If you plan on joining us for lunch on City Island, bring cash to pay for your meal as credit cards are not accepted.
