Vancouver Walk & Talk: Heritage Park & Lacamas Lake Walk
Meet at 10:00 a.m. at Camas Heritage Park, near the main parking area off NW Lake Rd. We’ll gather near the trail entrance closest to the lake. Look for the group standing near the path.
I will arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early to socialize and help anyone who has questions or concerns. Newcomers are encouraged to arrive early so we can meet before the walk and I can introduce you to some of the people who are already there.
We will usually start walking between 10:02 and 10:03, depending on when the group is ready. Please plan to arrive early. Once the walk starts, we will not coordinate late arrivals by message. You are welcome to catch up along the posted route or join us next time.
From Camas Heritage Park, we’ll walk the Lacamas Heritage Trail, following Lacamas Lake and the surrounding wetlands. This is an out and back walk of approximately 6.7 miles.
The trail is mostly flat and well maintained, with a combination of paved and packed surfaces. We’ll follow the lake for much of the route, with views of the water, wetlands, trees, and wildlife along the way.
Difficulty: 3 out of 5
The trail itself is relatively easy. The rating is mainly due to the 6.7 mile distance, rather than elevation or technical terrain.
We’ll walk at an easy conversational pace. This is not a race. We’ll take short breaks as needed so people can regroup, get some water, take pictures, or enjoy the scenery.
Camas and Lacamas Lake have a long local history connected to early settlement, mills, transportation, and the development of the surrounding community. The lake and wetlands remain an important shared outdoor space today.
We meet. We walk. We talk.
