The Silent Book Club is a real globally based movement:

The idea of this book club is that you read your own book in silence at a public place with friends and peers.
The event format will work like this:
1:30 pm - 2:00 pm: arrive and order food or coffee and chat about what you’re reading.
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm: silently read for an hour - a 57-minute timer will be put into place to wind up silent reading.
3:00 pm - 3:30 pm: you can choose to leave or hang back and socially chat afterwards.
This event will be a reoccurring event on the Second Sunday of every month between January - December 2026.
