Overview
Introduction to the major concepts from Eastern & Western Philosophy, exploring their relevance and practical application.

Philosophy means the love of wisdom, and being a philosopher essentially means having an active attitude and awareness towards life.

We are all born philosophers, with a natural need to ask questions and with the intuition that there are answers to be found. Every civilisation has tried to pass on its wisdom, leaving us a vast heritage of useful knowledge and experiences to rediscover.

Explore the timeless ideas that have inspired and guided humanity throughout history and their relevance and practical application for our lives.

This 18-week course will introduce you to the major concepts of Eastern and Western Philosophy with a focus on their application in daily life.

Philosophy means love of wisdom (philo-sophia) and is an active attitude of awareness towards life. In this sense, we are all born philosophers, with an innate need to ask questions and with the intuition that there are answers to be found. Every civilisation has passed on to us its experience and understanding of life. However, most of us have had little opportunity to learn about the vast heritage of ideas that have inspired and guided humanity throughout history.

Introductory Evening: The first evening is free and introduces the course and gives the opportunity to see if this is what you are looking for. There will be two classes and a 30min break in the middle with refreshments.

Applications & Enrolment: The course fee is £290 which can be paid upon enrolment online or on the evening. The application form is found here Application - Philosophies of East & West. For the best experience, we cap group size to a maximum 12 participants.

Course Content Topics are arranged under three headings: Ethics, Sociopolitics and Philosophy of History.
