Stargazing at Semmering

Dear all,

We will do the next trip to Semmering.

Meeting point: 18:10 at Meidling Bahnhof in front of Ströck.
Please show up on time. We will use this time to get to know each other and make sure everyone is comfortable with the group.

Departure: RJ 854 from Bahnhof Meidling, departing at 18:31.
Return: IC 759 from Semmering Bahnhof, departing at 22:21.
Tickets: ~55 Euros round-trip (without Vorteilscard).

What to expect: We will arrive around 19:40, walk about 30 mins and find a good spot. We can then relax and enjoy the night sky for ~1.5 hours before returning.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. Please pack more layers than you think would be necessary.
2. A red-light headlight is highly recommended for navigation in the dark to protect our night vision.
3. Beanie.
4. A blanket/isomatte to make yourself comfortable.
5. Water/tea and snacks.
6. A planetarium app is a nice-to-have (e.g. Stellarium).

A link to the WhatsApp group will be shared with the attending members only on the day of the trip.

Please note that we are not tour guides and you are responsible for your own safety and well-being during the trip.

Since stargazing is highly weather-dependent, the trip may be canceled up to 4 hours before departure, so please check then for final confirmation.
