Service Project @ El Paseo Community Gardens (Chicago-Pilsen)

We invite you to come out & join some of your fellow Windy City Dads Group members for a fun SERVICE PROJECT as we partner up with HomeDadCon Service Project as we help refresh, revitalize, and renew El Paseo Community Garden in Chicago Pilsen neighborhood on Thursday October 1st at 9:30am (til 12noon)! This specific event is intended for DADS ONLY where we can hang out together, in a kid free zone, have adult conversations while building friendships and talk all things fatherhood. HomeDadCon is partnering with Windy City Toolbank, El Paseo Community Garden, and Windy City Dads Group to give back to the community in our host city. El Paseo Community Gardens is an community-managed greenspace, protected by the non-profit community land trust, NeighborSpace. The garden, developed on a reclaimed brownfield, features a native prairie, permaculture food forest, private senior garden beds, collective raised beds, and an apiary. Looking ahead, we envision expanding by half an acre, adding a dog run, nature play area, community stage, fitness zone, and more gathering spaces. ​ We have rented convention tools from Windy City Toolbank and they have coordinated with Home Depot to get some lumber so we can build some benches during this service project!
