"It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." - Yogi Berra
Every financial investment is, in one way or another, a prediction about what is going to happen. Some predictions are riskier than others, but all of them involve thinking about the future, and what things might be worth.
So, how do you do that?
Finance Valencia member Juan Carlos Bujeda, a long-time investor and real estate expert, will introduce us to the concept of valuing companies, properties, assets, and money. What might financial securities or real goods be worth in the future, and how much should we pay for them now?
We'll discuss some of the classic techniques for valuing and evaluating investments. It will involve numbers, math, and science, but also art and story telling.
At the end of the day, all of these models and techniques might be wrong, but they may be useful in helping us make better investments, even if the predictions are not perfect.
