Title: SEEING BEYOND COLOR

Speaker: Shari Garnsey

When: Wednesday, November 18, 2026

Time: 7:30 PM

Where: Alpharetta Art Center
238 Canton Street, Alpharetta, GA 30004

Description: Shari’s love of black-and-white photography has led her to explore how to see with greater intention—recognizing the light, tones, and visual relationships that give a scene its strength. In this presentation, she’ll share what she has discovered while photographing nature: how light, tone, texture, shape, and pattern can become the heart of an image.
Using examples from landscapes, wildlife, and smaller scenes in nature, she’ll talk through what caught her eye, what worked, and what she might do differently today. She’ll also share a few field and processing tips that have helped her along the way. It’s an invitation to explore black and white together—and to look a little more closely before pressing the shutter.

Biography: By day, Shari Garnsey pays the bills as a professional coach, helping teams at a Big Four audit and tax firm pursue and win high-stakes opportunities. Off the clock, she’s a devoted photographer whose passion spans nature, street, and black-and-white work. A student of photography since college, she returned to the craft after a long family-focused hiatus, and for the past 15 years has embraced the digital world with fresh perspective. Her images reflect deep curiosity, intuitive framing, and a love for quiet moments in wild spaces. Her work has been displayed in several juried exhibitions including the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA, Hudgen Center for Art and Learning, Duluth, GA.

We plan to showcase your photos on TV in the meeting room prior to the speaker presentation. Please upload up to two nature photos that you have taken on the following link by noon the day of the meeting
