Backyard composting does not have to be complicated! FBFF will be joined by Soil Health Practitioner Andie Marsh for a workshop at the forest. Come learn how to successfully decompose food scraps, grass clippings, and other waste right at home. Learn how to manage a pile that does not create unpleasant smells nor attract rodents.
Gain hands-on experience by building a new pile in community with others at Festival Beach Food Forest. Take-home resources will be available to support your post-workshop composting journey!

This event is free and supported by the City of Austin Urban Forest grant.

In addition to signing up here, you must also sign up on the official site: https://app.betterunite.com/compost101

What to Bring:
Dress for the weather and physical activity! Closed toed shoes are advised
Water, sun protection, snack if you’d like
Bring your own chair if you’d like for the presentation portion

\\Construction is blocking parking in front of the food forest on Waller. You can park farther north on Waller in front of the community garden (and beyond) and walk south down the sidewalk to the food forest (we are the unfenced side of the park-- the Community Garden is behind the fence). Free parking also available on the first floor of the Ladybird parking garage on Art Dilly st. behind the food forest.

About the Facilitator:
Andie Marsh is a Soil Health Practitioner and Science Communicator on a mission to help others restore life and functionality to their soil systems. Equipped with her microscope, she assesses soils and compost to inform restoration efforts through her business, Rhizos LLC – a Soil Food Web Certified Lab.
