🖼️ Special Exhibition: Hals–Rembrandt

November 6, 2026 – February 28, 2027
Frans Hals and Rembrandt are two of the most celebrated painters of the Dutch Golden Age.
Although both artists were famous for their ability to portray people with remarkable realism, their painting styles were quite different.

Frans Hals was known for his lively, spontaneous brushwork and expressive portraits, which often feel like snapshots of real life.
Rembrandt worked in a more experimental and layered way, exploring the character and inner world of his subjects.

The exhibition presents 19 paintings by Hals and Rembrandt side by side, allowing visitors to discover similarities and differences in the way they approached their subjects.
One of the highlights is the opportunity to see Rembrandt's famous The Syndics (1662), generously loaned by the Rijksmuseum, alongside works by Frans Hals.
The exhibition explores fascinating themes, including how artists portrayed children, represented music and brought group portraits to life.
It's a wonderful opportunity to look at these two masters from a fresh perspective. ✨

During the Hals–Rembrandt exhibition, the museum opens earlier than usual:
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Our Meetup starts at 2:00 PM, giving us the afternoon to enjoy the exhibition and explore the museum.
Everyone is welcome to explore at their own pace.

The Frans Hals Museum is located in the historic centre of Haarlem.

Approximately 20 minutes on foot from Haarlem Central Station.
Several local buses stop within walking distance of the museum.

Please arrange your own transportation to and from the venue.
