Join us for a festive fall morning at Lockhart State Park for the annual Chisholm Trail Turkey Trot — a fun, friendly 1-mile or 5K run/walk through the park’s scenic trails.
This isn’t just a race — it’s a celebration! Whether you’re here to run, walk, stroll with your pup, or just enjoy the crisp autumn air with new friends, this event is the perfect way to kick off your Thanksgiving season.
Cost: Free with paid park entry must be present to win!
Music: DJ Bustin’ Loose spinning festive tunes to keep your feet moving
Prizes & Raffle:

The top 3 male and female 5K finishers each win a free turkey from Chisholm Trail BBQ!
All participants receive a raffle ticket at check-in for a chance to win prizes from local favorites like Chisholm Trail BBQ, Lil’ Charlie’s, All Things Face Esthetic Lounge, Henry’s Restaurant, El Rey Crawfish & Oyster Bar, Guadalajara’s Mexican Restaurant, and Texas Oil Express Inc.
Raffle & awards ceremony at 10 AM. Must be present to win!

Runners, walkers, families, and leashed dogs are welcome.

Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
The 1-mile route is stroller-friendly.
Trails include some narrow, rocky, or steep areas, so use caution and enjoy the view!
Rain or shine — we’re trotting no matter what!

Check-in: Park HQ 7:00 – 8:45 AM. Race starts at 9:00 AM.

Lockhart State Park’s beautiful mix of paved paths and wooded trails make this Turkey Trot one of the most scenic runs in Central Texas. You’ll meet fellow nature-lovers, get your heart rate up, and maybe even win a turkey!
