October Greek Language Meet

Yiassas! We kicked off our 25th year of Greek Language MeetUps with a lively event last week. For October, we'll head to Maryland and The Big Greek Cafe in Bethesda (the site of one of our old standbys, Yamas), on Thursday, October 29th, at 7:00 pm.
In addition to our October 29th MeetUp, here are two other events to note:

The Annunciation Orthodox Center in Baltimore (across the street from the church) will host a tribute to the music of Manos Hatzidakis entitled Dreams, Love, and Pathos on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. It's a benefit concert for the Cathedral's Music Scholarship Fund ($25 donation) and will take place at the church's community center, 25 W. On Saturday, October 24th, from 7 pm to 11 pm, AHEPA Chapter 31 holds its annual Dinner Dance, with music from Palko, at the Frosene Center at Saint Sophia Cathedral. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at DCGreeks.com. Let me know if we should try to get a MeetUp table.
On Sunday, October 25, at 2:30 pm, Evgenia Katoufa will talk about The Women's Contribution to the Greek War of Independence. Drawing from her book, Ms. Katoufa will discuss the heroic struggle of Greek women in liberating their nation. This is a hybrid event, sponsored by Prometheas, at the Hellenic Center, 6506 Bells Bills Road in Bethesda; you can attend either in person or via Zoom. Refreshments will be served. The Hellenic Center will host their annual OXI Day celebration on Wednesday, October 28th at 6:30 pm.
