Data Engineering Bootcamp: One Week, Hands-On (Winter School 2027)

From “I know some Python” to building a full data product, in one week.
Are you starting out in data engineering, or hoping to move into it from analytics, BI, data science or software? Then you’ve probably noticed that tutorials teach individual tools but rarely show how everything works together in a real project.
That gap is what the Data Engineering Winter School is for. It’s an intensive, in-person week in Leuven where you learn the fundamentals by building, breaking and fixing things. You’ll work alongside Dataminded’s data engineers, who build data platforms for clients every day.

What we’ll cover

Monday: The data landscape, git, Linux, bash, and DevOps with Docker
Tuesday: Data analytics with Snowflake and dbt
Wednesday: Data processing with Spark and Polars
Thursday: Automating pipelines with Airflow, then starting your capstone project
Friday: Finishing and presenting your capstone, plus a look at what comes next

You’ll leave with

A clear picture of the data engineering landscape, including why things are done a certain way, not only what to do
Hands-on experience with the core tools of a data engineer’s workbench
The confidence to contribute to data pipelines, whether you’re working on your own or as part of a team

The only prerequisite is basic Python.
