This hike covers a 9.2 mile, scenic section, of the GAP trail and is new to Adventuring. We will cross the Eastern Continental Divide, the Mason Dixon Line and traverse the remarkable 3300ft long Big Savage Tunnel (it's lighted no need for a flashlight.) A "stunning panoramic" view of four states will be another of our hike's highlights. The GAP, which runs from Cumberland to Pittsburgh is a converted railroad bed, so there is little elevation change and the maintained surface is fairly smooth. The path is likely similar to the C&O canal towpath but considerably newer. This hike is rated moderate due to the maintained artifical surface and absence of hills.
