Ferry Trip to Bainbridge Island Museum of Art!

Sun 30 Aug · 8pm · Colman Dock

Ferry Trip to Bainbridge Island Museum of Art! Hello Art Lovers! Next month, in August, our wonderful Meetup art group will be taking our annual fun trip from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island! Come and explore this very charming, small waterfront community that supports a high quality, FREE art museum only a 30 minute ferry ride from Seattle! We always go in late August to ensure excellent weather - the view from the ferry of the Seattle skyline shouldn't be missed! The wonderful Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) currently has an excellent exhibit on Carletta Carrington Wilson, which features mixed media art focused on collective histories. You’ll also see an interesting exhibition titled, “Cloth, Paper, Stitches,” and another exciting on focused on “Indigenous Crafts.” We will meet at 1:00 pm inside the ticketing lobby at the south end of the Seattle Ferry Terminal located at (https://wsdot.wa.gov/travel/washington-state-ferries). Then, we will travel over on the 1:15 pm ferry. Once there, it’s a short uphill walk to the museum. The cost for the ferry ride is $11.35 for adults and $5.65 for Seniors and kids under 18 are free. Keep in mind that there is a 3% fee when using a card to pay, but you can also use your Orca card instead. You pay once for the ride over as a walk on and pay nothing to return! Just a warning: Parking in downtown Seattle near the ferry terminal can be daunting. It’s best to take light rail and get off at the Pioneer Square Station (prepare to walk several blocks). You can also Uber and ask the driver to drop you off at the bottom of the staircase to the terminal - super easy! After spending about 1.5 hours at the museum, we will break up into small social groups and you’ll have the option to eat at Market Elevated Winslow ( https://marketelevated.com) or Sweetwater Tavern (https://sweetwater-tavern.com). Both feature delicious menu options and outdoor seating. Afterwards, explore the charming downtown shops or head back on the ferry at your own pace. Please note that Katie will not be able to join us this time (she’ll be back this fall), but I hope you’ll come along on one of the most fun and popular events hosted by this group for the past several years. You won’t want to miss it!
