Meet-up vol. 11 | AI Nightmares from Film

About the event

AI Nightmares From Film: Did We Learn Anything or Just Eat Popcorn?
For nearly a century, Hollywood has predicted AI failure modes that are now becoming real-world engineering challenges.
Long before ChatGPT, Claude, and autonomous agents, Hollywood was already exploring many of the failures we’re confronting today, from poorly defined objectives and inadequate safeguards to the consequences of removing humans from critical decisions.
Drawing on films like 2001: A Space Odyssey, WarGames, and Ex Machina, we’ll explore what filmmakers understood about AI decades ago, what they got right, what engineers should have learned, and why we keep making some of the same mistakes.
