Named one of the best mystery films by the AFI, Otto Preminger’s Laura is probably your favorite director’s favorite noir. The film is full of past and future stars from the era with Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Judith Anderson, and a young Vincent Price, but its most important legacy may reside in its heavy influence on David Lynch’s TV series Twin Peaks where multiple plot elements are borrowed from Preminger’s noir classic. With the ghost of Laura looking over the film in a Gothic portrait and a beautiful and memorable classic theme in the score, prepare to be haunted by Laura.
