Steampunk at Rochdale Town Hall then a Choice of Museums

Rochdale's fantastic town hall are hosting a Steampunk Festival. The Town Hall and Square will be transformed into a vibrant hub of costume, craft, performance, and alternative heritage. It will celebrate the artistry, eccentricity, and community spirit that define Steampunk culture while showcasing Rochdale as a place where creativity and heritage meet. We will meet around 11am at the Martlet, the Town Hall's own restaurant, where we can have a coffee while waiting for folks to arrive. Then we'll explore the majestic venue and the steampunk festivities. At some point we can break off to eat, either at the Martlet or a nearby food place. After that we have a choice of two museums to move onto. Both are free to enter (as is the Town Hall) and hosting special tours, because of the Heritage Open Days nationwide event. Fireground, Rochdale's fire station museum, or Rochdale Pioneer's Museum, which celebrates the cooperative movement We can discuss which museum to move onto. We could even split up and people can go to either or both (mind they're about fifteen minutes walk from each other though). Both are well worth a visit all by themselves, and it's a special treat to go for free!
