A Little Further Down the Trail… There are paths that seem to invite you a little further — beneath the trees, over the hills, and towards places you might otherwise never find. The kind of day where the next bend reveals something unexpected, and the best moments are often the ones you didn’t plan for. This 15-mile circular adventure from Chilham takes us into some of those places. We’ll wander through the Beech Wood Path, across the rolling landscapes of the Kent and North Downs, and into the valleys around Wye and the Great Stour. Along the way, there will be hidden trails, far-reaching views, quiet villages, ancient churches and the occasional country pub waiting somewhere along the way. And as the day unfolds, the route eventually brings us back towards Chilham, passing the atmospheric Woolpack Inn — a building with more than 500 years of stories behind its walls. A little woodland. A little wilderness. A few unexpected turns. And perhaps the best part of the day is not knowing exactly what you’ll discover along the way… 🌿🥾 📍 Meeting point Chilham Station — outside the station 🕙 Meeting time: 10:15am 🥾 Start: 10:30am sharp Please arrive before 10:15am so that we can get everyone organised and start promptly. 📏 Hike details Distance: 15 miles approx., Elevation: 400 m approx Terrain: Mostly accessible paths, woodland and countryside trails Pace: Medium This is a long hike of around 15 miles at a steady pace. 🚆 Getting there The hike starts and finishes at Chilham railway station, making it convenient for those travelling by public transport.
